It's a novel idea and I love the combination of ideas that went into it. For the $10 it's currently on sale for, it's even better. If this game had a coop mode where one person did the RTS and the other controlled the mech, I'd play it for days. Needless to say, it's where I wanted to spend most of my time. It's very fun, very satisfying, and being able to customize it and feel the power grow as you level up is great. The mech you fly around in is where the game shines, in my opinion. That's helpful, but still suffers from spawning in AI mode and wandering off to their death.Īll that being said, please don't misunderstand me this game is well done and I think someone who is good at managing RTS games would really get a lot of enjoyment of the added level of a mech you can customize and fly around in to attack the enemy alone or alongside your other units. You can set up buildings to auto-create squads, so it'll constantly pump out guys while you fly around nuking the enemy. The way you build bases is interesting and I simultaneously like and dislike your personal mech being important to the base building, since it has to be close to nodes in order to use them for power the first time you build something there. If I were better at the micro management of my units, I think this may have not been as big of a problem. This also left my base, which I assumed had amassed an army to defend with, pretty much defenseless. However, how it played out was that all my units strolled one or two at a time towards groups of enemies and would get wiped out easily. This sounds like a great idea since you want to be flying around in your big mech thing kicking ass. What this means is that the computer controls them and tells them where to go and what to do. After swapping back to RTS mode to recover, the enemy would rebuild everything incredibly quickly and it would feel like I didn't accomplish anything and I'd be way behind.Īlso, your units spawn and have an AI mode enabled. It seemed like every time I tried to hop into my mech and fly around to take care of business, the enemy would take that opportunity to plow through everything I had. Sadly, due to not being very good at RTS games, I struggled with swapping between the RTS and FPS modes. I think people that are good at RTS games will enjoy it. I have some complaints, but this comes from the viewpoint of someone who is generally bad at RTS games, so take it for what you will. I played this for a couple of hours yesterday.
